Decay

Vagrant dwellers seeping into vigilant minds

Infiltrators roam these lonely rooms

Amalgamation of sorrows

An acquiescence of conception

Recently I have plunged into the studies of viruses, molds, fungi, and other microorganisms and their nature and function. As opposed to internal effects that cause the body's inability to function properly, I am now looking at outside traumas that can leach into the body and take over.

Decay, is a stop motion piece that brings physicality to the external traumas that leak into the mind and stain one's mental state. It is a common phenomenon to be able to relate to external traumas in life. However, it is even less common that we understand how to cope with them. Painful experiences come in different shapes and sizes, and the ones you see before you in this artwork are mine. Trauma is unique to everyone but is not mutually exclusive. What I have done is created abstracted forms to represent those encroaching thoughts, in a set that represents one’s mind. By doing so, I hope to bring common ground to every one of my viewers. Damaging experiences never leave one's mind, but like everything on Earth, they will eventually decay. Pain is no exception from the life cycle. By creating an ever-looping video, you will be reminded that every beginning and ending are linked. I want my viewer to be accepting of these griefs. As damaging as trauma can be, I want my viewer to be reminded that the mind is resilient, and peace will come.

I composed music to go along with these melancholy motifs. The piece influences the grotesque imagery, causing deep flooding of melancholy in the stomachs of my viewers. The over synthesized strings sound dead, going along with the decay of these infiltrators. I hope that I am able to bring peace of mind to those who experience this piece.
